In Haryana, peace is prevailing in the state after violence broke out in Panchkula and other places over the conviction of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh by a CBI court on Friday. Addressing a press conference in Panchkula last evening, Haryana Police chief B S Sandhu said, the state government has sealed over 30 congregation centres of the Dera Sacha Sauda across the state.
He said, about 6000 people have been evacuated from the Dera Sacha Sauda centre in Sirsa and around 4000 are gradually leaving the place. The Police chief said, curfew to remain in Sirsa and Kaithal districts. The DGP also informed that the rail services from Delhi to Katra via Ambala have been resumed.
The police has made all necessary security arrangements for tomorrow when the special CBI court will pronounce the quantum of punishment to the rape accused Ram Rahim lodged in Sunaria, Rohtak. The Haryana government has suspended Ashok Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Panchkula, alleging that his defective prohibitory orders allowed the crowd build-up in the district. The state government also sacked its deputy advocate general Gurdas Salwara for accompanying Ram Rahim after his rape conviction.
Thirty-seven people have died in the violent incidents, out of which six casualties are in Sirsa and 31 in Panchkula.
